病室のうすきたなさはちっともきれいにされない

病室には

廊下など歩くはおろか

半身を起せぬ患者が呻吟して居り

病室の手届かぬところに塵埃はうず高く

風の日の患者は真黒くなる

ある日主任は一人で

博士のようにおうように目礼もせぬ患者に

返礼をして

「どうですか」

ときいて廻る

主任の好き嫌いは甚しく

好意ある患者には笑顔もていとも親しく

嫌いな患者はどんな苦痛を訴えても

「少し我慢が足らんですよ」と

きめつけられる

主任の当直は患者を不眠にさせ

あわれな附添は息子を退所させると

おびやかされる
