傳つたふる處ところの怪異くわいいの書しよ、多おほくは徳育とくいくのために、訓戒くんかいのために、寓意ぐういを談だんじて、勸懲くわんちやうの資しとなすに過すぎず。蓋けだし教をしへのために、彼かの鬼神きしんを煩わづらはすもの也なり。人意じんい焉いづくんぞ鬼神きしんの好惡かうをを察さつし得えむや。察さつせずして是これを謂いふ、いづれも世道せだうに執着しうぢやくして、其その眞相しんさうを過あやまつなり。聞きく、爰こゝに記しるすものは皆みな事實じじつなりと。讀よむ人ひと、其その走はしるもの汽車きしやに似にず、飛とぶもの鳥とりに似にず、泳およぐもの魚うをに似にず、美びなるもの世よの廂髮ひさしがみに似にざる故ゆゑを以もて、ちくらが沖をきとなす勿なかれ。
